Description
Description: Bolgheri D.O.C, one of the newest and arguably most exciting appellations in the whole of Italy. Though formed as recently as 1994, Bolgheri D.O.C has already achieved legendary status in the world of fine wine and it’s all because of one curious, fearless man and a particular wine he created that broke all the rules: Sassicaia.
In a property that stretches over 2,500 hectares, we have chosen to select and plant vineyards exclusively on the most suitable lands, covering just a small area of the total surface. An area that is unique in terms of soil type, microclimate, and exposure that deserves its own appellation: DOC Bolgheri Sassicaia.
The 1968 vintage saw the debut of Sassicaia, a courageous wine that at the time, broke away from the standard way of making Tuscan Wine.
The wine is named after the stony soil which it comes from, and, by its nature, is destined to go far.
Tasting notes: This wine is chiseled and sharp with blackberry, ripe cherry, grilled herb, and barbecue spice. The aromas flow from the glass in a continuous stream and are all marked by radiant intensity. The mouthfeel is long and powerful. The crisp linearity of the wine’s tannic backbone is perfectly measured to the volume and depth of the fruit flavors.
