Description
A bottle of 1983 Penfolds Grange, Bin 95, bottled in 1985. A blend of 94% Shiraz and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. This bottle was taken to one of Penfolds recorking clinics at the Haberdashers Hall in London on September 30th 2016, held in conjunction with Christie’s auctioneers, where it was assessed by Penfolds winemakers. At this clinic this bottle was tasted as part of the assessment, topped up, re-corked and re-capsulated.
The 1983 was described as ‘a massively rich and expansive wine with years of cellaring potential’ in the Penfold’s Rewards of Patience tasting, with a drinking window of now to 2035.
Grange was first produced by Penfolds winemaker Max Schubert in 1952 and is generally recognised as Australia’s finest, and certainly most collectible, red wine.
