Wolf Blass is originally from East Germany, studied viticulture and oenology at the University of Würzburg, winning a Masters of Wine. In 1961, he emigrated to Australia where he worked as a consultant in sparkling wines. In 1966, he founded his first winery in Nuriootpa in the Barossa Valley. In 1986, he acquired 50% of the Australian Bottling Company, including the production of sparkling wines. The merger of the large Mildara group gave birth in 1991 to the Mildara-Blass group. In 1996, it was taken over by Fosters, the brewery giant. Currently, Wolf Blass is the ambassador of the wines that bear his name. The Red Label line designates a standard of first-class wines offering good value for money.
