Description

Carménère is a grape variety of Bordeaux origin. It is the result of a miscegenation between Cabernet Franc and Big Cabernet. In France, it occupies only about ten hectares but it is also cultivated in Chile, Peru, the Andes, California, Italy and Argentine.Il is often nicknamed vidure because of its rather hard wood. The leaves of the Carmenere are shiny and revolute. Its berries have a rounded shape and are medium in size. The Carmenera is afraid of gray rot, especially in wet autumn. It can also be exposed to the risks of climate coulure as it is important to grow it on infertile land and in warm areas. The Carmenera is associated with a maturity second middle period. This variety has only one approved clone, 1059. It can be vinified with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It makes it possible to obtain a rich and very colorful wine, which acquires character when combined with other grape varieties.
