Description
To celebrate La Maison du Whisky’s 60th anniversary, renowned independent bottler Berry Bros & Rudd treats us to this cask strength version.
Made in the Netherlands from Italian juniper berries, Spanish oranges and grapefruits, N°3 is nevertheless a thoroughly traditional London Dry gin. Behind its breathtakingly beautiful classicism lies a concoction that pushes at the boundaries of its gustatory and olfactory palette with each passing note. Red berries flavours, mentholated notes and hints of Havana cigar feature in the credits of ingredients responsible for this metamorphosis in a bottle.
Colourless. Rich and well-balanced, the nose opens with notes of juniper berries, red berries (strawberry, raspberry) and black pepper. Next, it shifts into a more floral register (orange blossom). The highly energetic attack on the palate is clearly dominated by citrus fruit (grapefruit, lemon, orange) and spices (cloves, ginger). The mid-palate is simultaneously herbaceous (cut hay, eucalyptus) and mentholated (white mint). Over time, a generous bunch of herbs flood the end of the palate (sage, vervain, rosemary). The retro-nasal olfaction is deliciously tannic and the empty glass is a faithful replica of wisps of very fine Havana cigars.
