Winery Duche des Papes or “Papal possession” owes its creation to the popes. For centuries, on this land in the southern part of the Rhone Valley there was a vineyard and a castle belonging to the papacy. The harvest allowed to produce only 4 barrels of wine per year, intended for the needs of the church. This world-famous region is called the New Papal Castle (Chateauneuf du Pape).
