Description

Located in the village of Sainte Regonde, on the south bank of the Dordogne River, on the slopes overlooking St. Emilion, Château Jean Faux is an estate with a long past. The Chateau renovated in the 17th century has very ancient origins. In fact, it is said that it takes its name from one of its owners, Ezéchiel de Mas, Count of Melac and General of the army of Louis XIV. The estate, with its park, caves, lake and greenhouse, has a bucolic charm of yesteryear. Château Jean Faux was famous as early as 1886, when the guide Fèret cited it as the first local winery with an annual production of 120 barrels of red wine. The modern age of the estate began in 2002, when the vineyards were bought by Pascal Collotte. The vineyards extend over 12 hectares and are mainly cultivated with Merlot, with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc. Two hectares are dedicated to the cultivation of sauvignon blanc and sémillon for the production of their white wine. Since 2003 Stéphane Derencourt has been the consultant of the company, which converted to biodynamic in 2011

This Bordeaux Rouge Superieur “Sainte Radegonde” is assembled starting from a blend where, alongside 80% Merlot, we find a smaller part, 20%, of Cabernet Franc. These vines are grown near Sainte-Radegonde, on clayey and calcareous soils with southern and southwestern exposure. Between the rows and in the cellar, practices are followed that refer both to the principles of organic farming and to biodynamic practices. Fermentation occurs spontaneously, in whole bunches, in stainless steel tanks with manual pumping over at least three times a day; the subsequent malolactic fermentation takes place in barrique. The final refinement takes place in two stages: first 14 months in 25% new barriques, then another 10 months in steel tanks

The Bordeaux Rouge Superieur “Sainte Radegonde” by Château Jean Faux presents itself to the eye with a concentrated ruby red color, particularly intense and deep. The nose opens on the small red fruit of the forest, then enriched by sensations that are directed more towards cocoa and tobacco. On the palate it is full-bodied, broad and enveloping on the palate, with a smooth sip thanks to a finely integrated tannic texture. A truly perfect label as a gift for all friends who are passionate about great French reds and who love artisanal products with a high territorial conten
