Description

Deep ruby red in colour ‘Les Eyraux’ displays all the hallmarks of a Merlot-dominant blend. A nose of plums and black cherries follows through on the palate with a plump, soft mouthfeel with hints of spice on a clean, long finish

In the 9th Century marauding Vikings invaded Bordeaux. Having skirted the Médoc they settled in the area today known as “Les Eyraux”. Legend has it the invaders, partial to the local wine let one winemaker keep his life in exchange for a few barrels of the best wine. Today iconic Bordeaux winemakers Coureau and Coureau produce this Merlot dominated blend exporting it to discerning clients from around the globe.

The Médoc is home to appellations like Pauillac and Margaux, containing Bordeaux’s priciest wines. But look a little harder and you’ll find small, family-owned estates like this, producing tasty claret at far friendlier prices. A Gold medal red.
