Description
Description
A Second Grand Cru Classé from Margaux, aromatic and beautifully fresh
The property
Bearing the surname of Chevalier Antoine de Lascombes since the 17th century, Château Lascombes is marked by the imprint of ten generations of owners who have shaped its history. Since 2011, the mutualist group MACSF has been the owner. The wines of Château Lascombes are recognized as being among the greatest in the Margaux appellation.
The vineyard
120 hectares in the Margaux appellation and 10 hectares in the Haut-Médoc appellation make up the vineyard of this Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855.
This vineyard is located on a mosaic of plots whose soils are composed, depending on their location, of a gravelly ridge, clayey gravel and clay-limestone plots. Originality compared to other Margaux wines, the grape varieties of the Château Lascombes vineyard are mainly composed of Merlot, then Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
Winemaking and aging
Harvested manually, the grapes are sorted and then destemmed. A light crushing is carried out before vatting. Pre-fermentation maceration lasts 10 days at 8°C. Alcoholic fermentation is followed by classic vinification with light daily pumping over to promote extraction. Following malolactic fermentation in barrels, aging on lees lasts 4 months.
Assembly
Château Lascombes 2016 is made from a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot.
Tasting
Dress
The dress impresses with its depth.
Nose
Elegant and balanced, the nose seduces with its aromatic richness (blackberry, coffee, ripe red berries, liquorice, mocha, spices and cardamom).
Mouth
Round and of a beautiful density, the mouth seduces by its tension and its mineral framework. Gourmet, the palate mixes notes of fresh blackberry, blackcurrant, raspberry as well as red berries (currant) with toasted aromas but also chocolate and mocha.
Service
For optimal tasting, serve at 17°C.
Guard
Château Lascombes 2016 can wait in the cellar until 2039 to express all of its aromatic complexity.
