Product Description

Sit back and unwind with Aberfeldy’s sweet, honeyed richness – it’s the ideal whisky to sip and savour. Aberfeldy 16 Year Old is a Single Malt Whisky that’s famously known as ‘The Golden Dram’, for gold is an important part of the story. Aberfeldy’s founders founders built the distillery by the Pitilie Burn and it still draws its water from that same stream – one that is renowned for its pure, fresh quality, and for its deposits of alluvial gold. Aberfeldy’s Golden Dram is perfect for enjoyment all year round, whether served neat, on the rocks or with a drop of water.

Aberfeldy 16 is a classic, fruity Malt with a distinctive character. The extra time spent maturing, coupled with finishing in oak casks, brings, brings honeyed richness to the fore. It comes across as if scented with spices and honeyed plump fruits, and syrupy, with hints of pineapple and lots of vanilla and fudge, with just a whisper of smoke on the finish. Any Scotch lover will appreciate this Whisky – the experience is sherried and full like fruitcake, then dabs of dark chocolate and a soothingly rich, mouth-coating finish. Production of Aberfeldy Scotch involves a uniquely long fermentation period and a two-part distillation process. Aberfeldy whisky continues to be distilled in traditional alembic copper pots stills that are crafted by Forsyths in Scotland. This process contributes to the distinctive characteristics of this Highland whisky. After distillation, the spirit then slumbers in the finest oak casks until it’s ready. The result is The Golden Dram – a full-bodied whisky that’s accentuated by its honeyed richness.

The history of Aberfeldy Malt Whisky dates back to the late-19th century. Back then, before cars and motorways, a Puggy Engine (a small steam locomotive) delivered barley and oak to the Dewar brothers’ enterprise, before taking their precious golden liquid to market. The old train resides on site to this day, close to the distillery’s main buildings, which include the original pagoda tower – an iconic symbol of Scotch whisky architecture. In production since 1898 and still made using time-honoured techniques, The Golden Dram has been awarded over 150 gold medals in collective recognition of its outstanding quality.

Enjoy the rich and smooth flavour of Aberfeldy 16 Year Old by experiencing The Golden Dram for yourself.
