Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah are combined to produce this complex and balanced wine that is intensely purple in color. In the nose, aromas of flowers like violets and sweet briar, which come from Malbec, can be perceived. Syrah adds spicy notes, good volume in the mouth and silky tannins. Finally, Cabernet Sauvignon provides great structure to this blend.

Dona Paula Alluvia Parcel

El Alto Parcel Malbec has an intense violet color, spicy and dried herbs aromas combined with fresh mint/camphor nuances and dried red fruits like plums. In the mouth, it is medium to full bodied but sophisticatedly austere. This complex and concentrated wine has a very persistent finish and a long cellaring potential. Elegant herbal character and smooth-silky tannins are the archetype of Ugarteche wines.

Our Estate Vineyards

El Alto Parcel Malbec has its origin in our Finca El Alto, located at 1000 meters above sea level in the Ugarteche sub-region of Luján de Cuyo. This vineyard was planted in 1969 as the result of a massal selection of old pre-phylloxeric Malbec from Vistalba. It is own rooted, low-density spaced (1850 plants per hectare) and flood irrigated. The soil is clay and has gravel from 1 meter deep onwards.
These type of soils together with the mild climate and its cool nights, originate sweet and ripe tannins.
