PATRÓN Añejo is an ultra-smooth tequila that’s perfect for sipping. It’s handcrafted every step of the way, which elevates its quality to an unprecedented level. Passionately masterful, it’s made in Mexico from the finest 100% Weber Blue Agave and manufactured in small batches. To achieve a deep and complex flavour, it’s aged for over a year in oak barrels. Elegant and stylish, it comes in hand-numbered bottles.
The light, golden amber hue of Añejo hints at the complex flavours that await. A warm and rich aroma of cooked agave, apricot and spice starts a distinctly soft taste experience, which continues with notes of toffee, caramel, and orange, slowly revealing themselves. The cooked agave is still there, while the finish is smoky, with additional caramel tones. It’s a sophisticated drink that provides rich sensations sip after sip. Añejo is ideal for those who appreciate the finer things, and it also makes an excellent gift.
PATRÓN Añejo begins with the sweetness of baked agave and the fresh citrus notes that appear once it’s crushed and aged in oak. It’s a pairing that brings both structure and flavour. Over a year of ageing adds a different dimension to its taste.
Añejo is a PATRÓN tequila to sip and taste. Drink it straight or on the rocks, and discover complex flavours that are rich and smooth. It also adds a refreshing twist to classic cocktails. Try a PATRÓN Añejo Old Fashioned to see how this iconic drink is enhanced by the sweet, oak-aged taste of this premium tequila. Discover other range of cocktail creations and long drinks as well – a modern PATRÓN Añejo Desperado with delicious herbal notes or the PATRÓN Mai Tai that brings together citrus and sweet flavors for a tropical cocktail, or the simple Añejo Highball. Brunch time is Añejo time too – try pairing it with guava and lime for the perfect light tequila drink.
Crafting PATRÓN Añejo involves a combination of passion, tradition and expertise. It all starts with the finest Weber Blue Agave plants. They grow slowly and take years to mature. After being carefully harvested, a sharp tool called a Coa is used to strip away the leaves and reveal the heart of the plant – the piña.
The piñas are carefully hand chopped and slow baked in small, traditional brick ovens. After that they’re crushed by a two-ton volcanic stone Tahona wheel and a roller mill. Fermentation takes place in pine wood tanks, where the proprietary PATRÓN yeast gets to work. Distillation takes place in custom-made copper pot stills designed by our Master Distiller.
The final step is where Añejo gets its sipping character. It’s aged in a combination of oak barrels – French, Hungarian and American whiskey. For over a year the natural climate in the barrel room allows the wood and tequila to interact. The time spent ageing comes through in the taste.
PATRÓN Añejo tequila is made the hard way, with no shortcuts and only high-quality ingredients, which results in deep, complex flavours. The final touch comes from the beautiful, hand-numbered bottle. Perfect for connecting with friends, sipping or making cocktails and setting the mood, PATRÓN Añejo tequila is made the way it should be.
