GLENROTHES 25 YEAR 1990
- Description
Description
Whisky maker James Stuart had plans to build a distillery in his hometown of Rothes, but a financial crisis in the summer of 1878 threw a spanner in the works. Glenrothes would’ve been nothing more than a pipedream if it wasn’t for an unexpected local benefactor: the Reverend William Sharp, known for his weekly sermons against the temptations of alcohol. Recognizing the importance of a distillery for his community, the good Reverend raised the funds to complete work on Glenrothes. The Italian indie bottler Wilson & Morgan has brought us this 25-year-old Glenrothes, drawn from just two casks filled back in 1990. The whisky was finished in Oloroso sherry casks before it was bottled in 2015 at 53.3%. Glenrothes 25 Years Old Wilson & Morgan 1990 is a classic Glenrothes, staying true to the crisp and winey character of the distillery. The whisky has a robust mouthfeel and notes of nuts, dried apricots, peaches and raisins on a backdrop of biscuits.
