SIRENE DE GISCOURS 2012, the elegance of Margaux

Château Giscours , the production of these wines of character

The second wine of Château Giscours, the Sirène de Giscours, benefits from the same attentive care as the Grand Vin Château Giscours 2012. The Sirène de Giscours represents approximately a third of the Domaine’s total production and is made from young vines . The Domaine’s 90 hectares of vines flourish on three ridges of Garonne gravel bathed in a temperate climate. The specificities of this terroir, ideal for the cultivation of the grape varieties used in the composition of the AOC Margaux, produce colorful wines with character.. Both cultivation and winemaking are done in the traditional way. The manual harvest is followed by plot vinification in thermoregulated vats. Aging in oak barrels then takes place over 15 to 18 months, which gives the Margaux the time necessary to develop their rich and complex aromas.

The Margaux appellation

The AOC Margaux is the only communal appellation in Haut-Médoc to bear the name of a premier grand cru classified, Château Margaux. It stretches to the south of Médoc over 1,400 ha. It is one of the most prestigious appellations in the Médoc and also one of the largest. Margaux is a “delicate” wine, which keeps and evolves throughout its life.

The perfect balance of the 2012 Sirène de Giscours vintage

The 2012 vintage of La Sirène de Giscours is a success, as evidenced by the score of 83/100 awarded by Wine Spectator . The bouquet, with notes of black fruits (blackcurrant) and vegetal , is very rich. On the palate, the Sirène de Giscours 2012 has the airy elegance of a great Margaux while having the assertive and powerful character coming from its original terroir. It is therefore a wine of great nobility which presents a very nice balance between generosity and tension. The elegance of the Sirène de Giscours is perfect to accompany dishes of character such as game, red meat or a cheese platter. To fully enjoy its aromas, it is recommended to open it 2 hours before tasting it.
