Tamada Saperavi Georgian Dry Red, 2020
Grapes: 100% Saperavi, unoaked, transitioning to organic farming
Mature ruby with brick hue. Black mulberry and cherry with soft oak and vanilla overtones, which are echoed on the mid weight palate. The soft velvety tannin structure is well balanced with acidity. The wine has an excellently expressed vinosity.
A “Tamada” is a Georgian toastmaster who overseas a traditional Georgian feast.
Philippe Lespy, formerly Head Viticulturist at Château Mouton-Rothschild in Bordeaux for over eight years, is in charge of the winemaking at GWS.
Previous vintages of this wine have been multi Gold/Double Gold medal winners at the CWSA and Silver medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition.
Saperavi is a must serve with a grilled lamb, or lamb stew of Italian or Georgian style. This dry red wine also pairs well with grilled steak with green pepper sauce and a wide variety of cheese.
